Hello Monday/DEPT collaborated with NVIDIA and The American Society for Deaf Children to launch a signs platform for users to learn American Sign language. As the team's motion designer, I had the opportunity to establish the motion language for the SIGNS UI prototype.

Thinking Process
The Problem
The World Health Organization estimates that over 466 million people globally live with hearing loss, and that number is set to double by 2050. In the U.S. alone, around 11 million people are deaf or hard of hearing. As this population continues to grow, it becomes more important than ever to create tools that make communication easier and help bridge the gap between Deaf and hearing.
The Solution
To meet this need, Hello Monday/DEPT teamed up with NVIDIA and The American Society for Deaf Children to build SIGNS. It’s an interactive platform where learning ASL feels like a conversation. Guided by a 3D avatar and powered by real-time AI feedback, users can master signs step-by-step in the Learn section. Through the Contribute section, the community can submit their own signs, helping our AI grow and making the experience more inclusive for everyone.

Creative Process
Signs is designed to feel simple yet immersive which can help user's to navigate the platform easily. The idea is to also bring in a sense of accomplishment and genuine fun that encourages users to explore, play, and celebrate at each step.
