Reflex AI reached out to Hello Monday/DEPT to develop a free digital training tool called Hometeam which is designed to help veterans support one another with mental health challenges. As the motion designer, I was tasked to animate over 20 educational videos designed to teach users life-saving skills as well as prototyping the experience.

Thinking Process
The Problem
Many veterans end up feeling alone because it’s hard to talk about their experiences with people who haven’t lived through something similar. They also face a 1.5 times higher risk of suicide compared to non-veterans. On top of that, the negative perceptions around mental health make it even harder to seek help, leaving many veterans without the care and support they need.
The Solution
To combat this public health crisis, Reflex AI collaborated with Hello Monday/DEPT and support from Google.org to create Hometeam which educates veterans on recognizing the warning signs of mental health issues and allows them to practice crucial conversations using AI-powered chat simulations. This training equips veterans with the skills and confidence necessary for successful real-life interactions that can be life changing and potentially life saving.

Creative Process
Hometeam is crafted to feel genuinely human, which is infused in both the illustration and animation. The hand drawn aesthetic adds warmth and personality, creating a more natural connection with users and fostering a sense of empathy throughout the experience.
